Hands

“Thank”, the act of expressing gratitude, originates from the word “think” :

Appreciation entails humility. This is the perception that one would not be who they are today without the help of others. Auditing also falls into the realm of thought. “Thank”, the act of expressing gratitude, originates from the word “think”, to form or have in the mind. Martin Heidegger, existentialist philosopher, often recited that "To think is to be grateful”, a point in which the foundational act of thanking is fundamentally an acknowledgment of our very existence or being.

My interpretation of thanking, thus thinking, is to provide service. Service in forms of providing for the less privileged, or simple acts of thinking for others. Thinking for others can cure both myself and the others.

As an artist, I love using my hands. My hands reach out before I think, and thinking usually comes after I have completed using my hands to create, or help.

Using my hands to serve food to the homeless, to tutor underprivileged children, to create interactive events with those suffering from down syndrome, and to clap and cheer for my community - the hands are a part of myself that “thinks” for others, and “thanks” people.
